Revelation

Saturday, as I leisurely walked to my car post my quick yet not so quick Food City run for the 2-item list, a list that grew to 30 at checkout, it hit me like an epiphany. The Holy Spirt told me that we truly operate in God's grace. We REALLY are between life and death in a manner of seconds. Oftentimes, we thank God for traveling grace for ourselves and our families. We give the Most-High thanks for allowing us to arrive safely, accident free. Do we ever think, the unthinkable can happen to us in the process of driving a vehicle?

I am not speaking to texting and driving. I am not speaking to impaired driving due to controlled substances. I am speaking to the fact of being alert and all of a sudden, you gasp for air. All of a sudden, that Starbucks you sip goes down incorrectly and you are strangled. All of a sudden, an invisible fist clenches your heart from the inside as you drive in solitude.

The realization is...we do not consider our ways, the small details that seem so minute that we graze over them and do not extend gratitude because we, unconsciously, hold this ideal that we are impervious. The realization is that our lives truly do hang in the balance.

Not only do we need to consistently give thanks, but we also need to consistently model good human behaviors.  The only way people can see the reflection, the light, and be drawn to it, is if you are a light. A light illuminates. It does not have to say..."Heyyyy, look at me, I am a light!" It just is...without announcements, without the pomp and circumstance, without the grandeur.

Remain conscious, remain cognizant, we are granted grace and mercy. We could be wiped away with one wax off.

Remain humble. Remain grateful. Try a little tenderness-a little meekness. Try some empathy.  Just try!

Try Jesus! You can try me too...

Like Motel 6, the light is always on.
